Suspect in Roxbury burglary linked to earlier incident in Dorchester

BOSTON – Police arrested a man early Friday morning following a burglary in Roxbury and later linked him to another incident in Dorchester last week.

On June 28, at approximately 2:02 a.m., officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Cheval Holmes, 54, of Dorchester, after receiving radio notification of a burglary in progress near Blue Hill Avenue and Edgewood Street.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found Holmes in a trailer with burglary tools and discovered that there were several warrants out for his arrest.

Further investigation by B-2 Detectives identified Holmes as a suspect in a previous burglary that occurred on June 23 at approximately 6:15 p.m. near 65 Norfolk St., Dorchester.

Holmes faces a number of charges, including five counts of breaking into a car/boat at night, three counts of breaking into a building at night, breaking into a building during the day by intimidating a person, theft from a truck, theft from a building, attempted theft, three counts of trespassing and possession of Class B drugs.

He was also charged with breaking and entering a building at night, possession of burglary tools, trespassing and repeated possession of Class B drugs.

Holmes is scheduled to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.

Boston Police continue to investigate the incidents.
