Man arrested after loose tire flies off truck in ‘Final Destination’ incident, killing college student

Police have confirmed that a man has been arrested and charged in connection with a tragic death involving a loose tire.

Ricky A. Raider of Cincinnati was arrested and charged in connection with a fatal crash in 2023 that killed 18-year-old college student Lauren A. Collins.

The tragic accidental death was frighteningly similar to a scene from the Final goal film franchise.

The franchise often features characters dying in bizarre and unexpected ways, often appearing like elaborate accidents.

In this case, the tire on Raider’s 1993 Ford F-250 truck fell off while she was driving. It struck Collins’ car on July 16, 2023, while she was traveling on I-75 in Northern Kentucky.

When questioned by police, Raider stated that he lost a tire in the area but left the scene of the accident because he did not believe it would hit another car.

However, upon further investigation, authorities discovered that Raider knew from a phone conversation with an inmate that his tire had hit another vehicle.

The phone call was recorded and Raider admitted that he could have seriously injured the person in the vehicle he hit. He also stated that he quickly left the area to avoid punishment for the accident.

Just hours after the incident, he told a Bullitt County inmate, “Somebody’s damn window broke and their whole damn car broke. I don’t know if they died; I don’t know what happened.”

“There were cops and ambulances everywhere and damn it, they didn’t notice, I guess they didn’t pay attention to me fucking putting my steering wheel back on and driving off.

“I mean, it could have fucking killed her; I don’t know if it killed her or if it hit her or what; I didn’t stick around to find out for sure.”

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release on June 21 confirming Raider’s whereabouts and the charges he now faces.

According to the press release, (Raider) is being held at the Boone County Detention Center on $40,000 bail.

“He is charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident/Failure to Render Aid When Death or Serious Bodily Injury Occurs, a Class D Felony, and one count of Repeat Offense in the First Degree.”
