Leavenworth, Kansas woman who attacked her neighbor with hammer sentenced

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Kaitlyn A. Robinson, 27, of Leavenworth, was sentenced Wednesday to 41 months in prison for aggravated burglary. Robinson was also ordered to pay $6,838.45 in restitution.

Robinson pleaded no contest to the charges on May 17, 2024.

According to court documents, Robinson was arrested on February 14, 2023, after police responded to a report from her neighbor. According to the documents, Robinson broke into her neighbor’s apartment, hit her in the head with a hammer and attempted to choke her with a hair dryer cord.

The victim said she heard a mechanical noise coming from her front door. When she opened the door, Robison entered her apartment without permission, hit her with a hammer and attempted to choke her with a hair dryer cord.

Officers surrounded the building and determined that the mechanical noise the victim heard was likely caused by a drill. Robinson was later found in the victim’s apartment in a pot of boiling water along with several cell phones.

“We know the defendant has serious mental health issues. We wish she had better managed those issues because this horrific incident could have been avoided,” said Leavenworth County District Attorney Todd Thompson.

“The victim suffered great physical and psychological harm as a result of this crime, and that must not be forgotten.”
