MEMPHIS, Tennessee – A suspect is in custody after a 15-year-old was shot and killed in West Memphis last week.

West Memphis police said 15-year-old Idarreous Hudson was shot and killed in the front yard of a friend’s home on June 11. West Memphis police said Idarreous was shot in the arm and chest.

On Friday evening, West Memphis police said they had arrested a suspect in connection with Idarreous’ death. Police are not releasing the suspect’s name because he is believed to be a minor.

Idarreous’ mother, Latoya Matthews, said her older son told her what happened immediately before the shooting.

“He said they were standing outside, talking and playing ball. He said someone finally came through. They were driving a black Cadillac and he said someone was hanging out of the roof,” she said. “He said they came through once. Then they shot from a passing car. They fired 10 shots. And then they hit my baby.”

Matthews has a message for her son’s killer.

“You’re not going to get away with this,” Matthews said. “I want justice for my baby because he doesn’t deserve this. My baby should still be here with me right now.”
