TRAFFIC ALERT: Accident near Clarksville causes westbound I-40 to slow to a snail’s pace

JOHNSON COUNTY, Arkansas – Drivers traveling west on Interstate 40 in Johnson County Friday morning should expect significant traffic congestion following an accident near Clarksville.

The Arkansas Department of Transportation reported the accident just before 7 a.m. at mile marker 57.9 and closed all westbound lanes. At 8:15 a.m., traffic was still backed up for at least a mile.

Authorities are calling the crash a rollover and report at least one person injured at the scene. The extent of the injuries or information on whether more than one person was injured has not been released.

Westbound traffic is being detoured by ARDOT crews at mile marker 58.
