Human remains found in Council Bluffs, death investigation ongoing

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (WOWT) – Skeletal remains believed to be those of a person were found in Iowa on Wednesday.

Council Bluffs police responded to a call saying they found remains while walking in the area of ​​Veterans Memorial Highway and East Manawa Drive. Officials believe the remains are the torso of a human being.

Officials said given the condition in which they were recovered, the remains were likely exposed to the elements for a long time. The remains will now be sent to the State of Iowa Medical Examiner’s Office in hopes of identifying them, which could take several weeks, according to CBPD.

The investigations are still ongoing.
