Rockwall County Sheriff’s Deputy Attacked, Investigation Underway – Blue Ribbon News

ROCKWALL COUNTY, TX (June 18, 2024) On June 16, 2024, at approximately 12:15 a.m., a Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office deputy was waiting for a tow truck for an arrest on IH 30 near Shenanigans when an unrelated vehicle pulled up behind him. The subject exited the vehicle and after a brief interaction with the deputy began to assault the deputy. The deputy was able to call for assistance and the subject, identified as Sam Lewis Barnhill, a 25-year-old white male, was arrested for assault on a peace officer and obstruction of official duties. While the investigation is ongoing, there does not appear to be any connection at this time between the traffic stop the deputy participated in and Barnhill’s assault.
