Seven overdose deaths reported Monday by the Erie County sheriff

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Erie County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Monday evening that seven people died from overdoses on Monday alone in Buffalo and Tonawanda.

Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz told X on Monday, “There appears to be a VERY deadly form of fentanyl on the streets right now.”

The Erie County Sheriff’s Public Information Officer then released a statement to X shortly afterward, confirming the deaths.

Poloncarz said more information is expected to come from ECDOH, after further investigation.
