2 dead after accident in Porterville | YourCentralValley.com

PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A 60-year-old man and his 74-year-old passenger were killed after a traffic accident in Porterville over the weekend, Porterville police said.

On Sunday, officers said they responded to a two-vehicle crash in the area of ​​Newcomb Street and Teapot Dome Avenue that occurred around 7:17 p.m. and killed a 60-year-old driver and his passenger, a 74-year-old woman.


When they arrived, police found the driver of the other vehicle involved, a 29-year-old man, with serious injuries. The Major Incident Investigation Team was then called to the scene of the accident and took over the investigation.

Investigators believe the 29-year-old was traveling south on Newcomb Street at a high rate of speed and failed to obey the stop sign at the intersection with Teapot Dome Avenue, which led to the accident. The 29-year-old was taken to a local hospital for further treatment.
