Rochester Hills wading pool shooter found dead, Oakland County sheriff says

Rochester Hills — Nine people were shot at a Rochester Hills wading pool around 5:11 p.m. Saturday after a “random” gunman got out of a vehicle and fired 28 shots from a handgun in the roadside park, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said.

Sheriff’s officials later found the 42-year-old suspect dead in a Shelby Township home after police entered the house with a drone, Bouchard said.

The suspected shooter died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the sheriff said.

The gunman drove to the Brooklands Plaza Splash Pad on Auburn Road in Rochester Hills, exited a vehicle, opened fire with a Glock 9mm semi-automatic pistol, reloaded, fired and reloaded a second time, leaving three cartridge magazines at the scene, Bouchard said.
