St. Johns County Fire Department Lieutenant and his wife die in apparent murder-suicide

St. Johns County Fire Lt. Shawn Yarbrough and his wife, Andrea Yarbrough, are dead after a suspected murder-suicide, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office announced in a news release Friday.

On Thursday around 9:20 p.m., officers found the couple dead in their home in the Entrada Subdivision.

Autopsies on Friday determined that Andrea died by murder and Shawn by suicide. In both cases, gunshot wounds were the cause of death, the press release said.

According to SJSO, this appears to be an isolated case.

“At this time, we are relying on information from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office as they are still actively investigating the incident,” the St. Johns County Fire Department told Action News Jax.

Action News Jax has requested additional information from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.
