James Spann’s Facebook and Instagram accounts blocked

If you want to see weather reports from James Spann, you have to resort to more traditional methods than social media.

The Birmingham meteorologist contacted Meta via “X,” the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, and explained the reason for his Facebook and Instagram accounts being suspended on Friday.

Meta notified James of the suspension and told him he could appeal the decision, but no reason was given for the account status.

ABC 33/40 News wrote that management is “actively working with our social media team to restore access to James’ pages.”

“Hey Meta, here’s a little help,” Spann posted on X. “I post weather and photos of followers. This morning my Facebook page, profile and Instagram account were deleted. A mistake of course, but I need someone to get them back online. Many rely on them (about 1.5 million in total).”

Meta’s message to Spann stated that the account or the activity on it did not meet community standards.

Spann has 180 days to appeal the suspension, otherwise the accounts will be permanently deactivated.
