Police identify dead man after shooting near Maymont in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The man who found lying on the ground He was injured with a gunshot wound near Maymont in Richmond and died later Wednesday in hospital. Police have released their identity.

Police have identified the man as 46-year-old Wilson Negron of Henrico County.


On Wednesday, June 12, at 6:24 p.m., Richmond Police officers were called to the 1300 block of Hampton Street for a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found Negron lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he died shortly thereafter from his injuries.

The coroner will determine the cause of death.

When officers arrived at the scene, police reported that a vehicle was parked in the street. Detectives are currently investigating whether it could be connected to the shooting.
