Motorcyclist fatally injured in accident on Tuesday evening

MORGAN HILL – Authorities say a 19-year-old San Jose woman was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on northbound Highway 101 in Morgan Hill Tuesday night.

The fatal accident occurred around 9:20 p.m. south of Cochrane Road, the California Highway Patrol said in a press release.

According to the CHP, the woman was riding a 2023 Yamaha R7 in the left lane when she collided with the rear of a 2023 Kia Forte traveling at 5 mph. She continued north and was ejected from her motorcycle after colliding with a 2016 Ram 2500 that had stopped for another collision. She came to rest under the truck.

The driverless motorcycle ended up in the adjacent lane, where it collided with a 2009 Ford Escape traveling 40 to 50 miles per hour.

The CHP said the woman died of her injuries at the scene. The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office will release her identity once it is confirmed and her next of kin have been notified.

The accident is currently being investigated. It was initially unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
