Elderly pedestrian in Brooklyn hit and killed by city Department of Transportation driver

An elderly man was killed on Wednesday when the driver of a city transport department truck hit him, police sources said.

The 86-year-old victim was crossing the street at the corner of 92nd St. and Dahlgreen Place in Bay Ridge around 3:30 p.m., police said.

While crossing the street, he was hit by the 31-year-old driver of the DOT truck, police sources said.

The man was thrown onto the sidewalk and suffered severe head trauma in the accident.

His death was pronounced at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene and was not immediately charged.

The victim’s name was not released while police worked to notify his family of his death.
