Cleveland City Hall reopens after ‘cyber incident’

CLEVELAND – Cleveland authorities said City Hall and Erieview will reopen at 11 a.m. Wednesday after the buildings were closed on both Monday and Tuesday due to a “cyber incident.”

Details of the cyber incident, including its nature and scope, were not discussed by city officials so as not to interfere with the investigation.

“We are committed to providing ongoing updates as they become available. We will not release any details that could jeopardize the ongoing investigation into this incident,” city officials said in a statement.

The city was forced to shut down affected systems and focus on backup and recovery. However, municipal and emergency services, including the Department of Public Safety (911, police, fire and EMS), the Department of Port Control (Cleveland Hopkins and Burke Lakefront airports), and the Department of Public Utilities (water, water conservation and Cleveland Public Power), were not affected.
