Stevenson University is honoring former lacrosse player found dead during a surfing trip in Mexico

BALTIMORE – Former Stevenson University lacrosse player Callum Robinson was found dead Friday off the coast of Baja California, Mexico, one of three missing surfers.

Stevenson recognized Robinson, who played for the Mustangs from 2013-15, in Saturday’s 21-3 win over Eastern to clinch the MAC Commonwealth Championship.

Robinson and his brother Jake Robinson and their friend Jack Carter Rhoad went missing on April 27th during her surf trip in Mexico.

Authorities confirm that the three bodies were found in an advanced state of decomposition at the bottom of a well over 15 meters deep.

According to the FBI, all three are believed to be victims of a crime. Mexican authorities have arrested several key individuals and investigations are ongoing.

“Our prayers and thoughts now go out to Callum’s parents, Martin and Debra Robinson, who lost their two sons, the family of their friend Jack Carter Rhoad, and the many loved ones and friends that all of these young men had,” Stevenson University said statement.

Robinson is from Perth, Australia, where he played club lacrosse before joining Stevenson’s lacrosse team in 2013.

He started all 21 games as a senior in 2015. He led the team with 91 ground balls and 52 caused turnovers and was a student-athlete.

Robinson turned 33 on May 1st.

“He was an outstanding student, an outstanding athlete and an even better friend. We look forward to a time when we can all come together as a community to honor and celebrate his life,” said Stevenson Athletics Director Brett Adams.
