Man arrested after car fire on mountainside near Wofford Heights

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man was arrested after officials and Kern County Fire Rescue investigated a brush fire that led to an evacuation order in Lake Isabella.

On June 7, an individual was arrested for alleged connection to the 155 Fire. Kern County Fire Rescue responded to a rapidly spreading brush fire along Highway 155 near Deadrich Ranch Road on Thursday. The fire, which was started by a burning vehicle on the side of the road around 5 p.m., burned over 49 acres and is currently 55% contained.

Fire officials say numerous homes were initially threatened, but firefighters were quickly able to stop the burning brush from spreading. Firefighters will remain on scene until June 8 to ensure smoldering vegetation is extinguished and containment efforts are improved.

A Bureau of Land Management firefighter sustained minor injuries in the incident and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
