Man burned after returning to burning house to find dog in east Houston

HOUSTON – Houston firefighters are investigating after a home on the city’s east side caught fire Sunday.

It happened at 963 Greatwood Drive.

Firefighters were notified of a house on fire with people trapped inside. When they arrived, they found flames coming from the house and were told a man had gone back inside the house to try to find his dog.

Firefighters entered the house and found the man. They managed to get him out. He had several first-degree burns on his body, but he refused to be taken to the hospital.

Crews are still searching for the dog.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, but it is believed to have started in the attic of the house.
