San Jose State University (SJSU) has suspended a professor for allegedly encouraging students to violate university policies during anti-Israel protests on campus.

Sang Hea Kil, a law professor and former chair of the Anti-Racism Committee for Social Justice Transformation at SJSU, according to her bio page, posted the news on her Instagram account on Wednesday.

Kil posted on Instagram that she was suspended “because of her work in Palestine” and vowed that “the fight for academic freedom continues!!!” Kil will not have access to campus facilities or be able to perform any duties related to her work, the letter said.

The letter also explained that the decision was based on repeated violations despite knowledge of university policies, including observed and documented examples of “unprofessional and exploitative behavior toward students and others.”

These included “instructing and encouraging students to violate University policies, which is contrary to your duties and responsibilities as a faculty member and academic advisor, engaging in harassing and abusive behavior and comments toward individual and group colleagues, targeting at least one colleague and/or group of colleagues for performing their job duties by publicly posting their picture and/or group description with inflammatory comments and thereby creating a threat to them, and engaging in activities with and/or instructing students for your own personal interest or benefit,” the letter said.

San Jose State told Fox News Digital it does not comment on personnel matters.

Kil told local news station ABC7 that the suspension violated her constitutional rights and that the university’s allegations in the letter were untrue. According to the report, Kil described himself last month as a liaison between the administration and protesters on campus.

“They made wild, baseless allegations and could not provide any proof that I instructed the students to march through the Student Rec Center, which never happened. We did not march through the Student Rec Center,” Kil told ABC7. “They also said I instructed the students to take down their camps and the students refused to listen to my instructions. And that did not happen either.”

Earlier this month, Kil posted emails from administrators on her Instagram account warning her against encouraging students to disregard the university’s time, place and etiquette.

“The expectation is that you will stop directing students to violate policies in the future,” the email from Interim Vice President for Student Affairs Mari Fuentes-Martin said. “The health, safety, and well-being of SJSU students must be the top priority at all times. Your expected cooperation is appreciated.”

On April 25, she was investigated for allegedly encouraging students to disrupt university operations in a campus building and for allegedly participating in disruptive activities herself, according to another letter she posted on Instagram.

Kil has resigned from her position as chair of the Anti-Racism Commission for Social Justice Transformation, according to a statement she posted on Instagram, and from all committees of the California Faculty Association’s Palestine, Arab and Muslim (PAM) Caucus.

“I am now resigning as co-chair and from all committees in Pam. (It) has been an honor to fight side by side with all of you against the tragic and painful silence surrounding the genocide we witnessed on our campuses,” Kil said in a statement to her colleagues posted on her Instagram last month. “You all have inspired me to do more than I ever thought possible, and I am so grateful to all of you for this shared experience. I wish you all the best in your fight for Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) at CSU and CFA. You will be victorious!”
