Three colleagues killed parking attendants in Pleasant Hill, police said

Pleasant Hill police arrested three people on Friday in connection with a fatal stabbing in February.

Police found Santiago Jacobo, 37, of Pittsburg, dead of stab wounds in Pleasant Hill Park on Feb. 10. He was working the late shift as a janitor at the park but had not returned home, so his worried wife checked on him and found him unconscious in the parking lot, police said.

On Friday, police arrested 31-year-old Pablo Gutierrez-Morales of Concord, 24-year-old Vanessa Vera-Aguilar of Antioch and 25-year-old Jazmin Ruiz of Antioch on charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

The three suspects worked with Jacobo at The Watermark, a nursing facility in San Ramon. Jacobo was in a relationship with Vera-Aguilar, according to police, while Gutierrez-Morales was pursuing a new relationship with her. The three suspects planned, coordinated and carried out the attack on Jacobo as he was finishing his shift at the park, according to police evidence.

Pleasant Hill Police are asking anyone with information about Jacobo’s death and the suspects to contact investigators at 925-288-4630.
