Car crash involving Porsche in Pune | “Equal law for rich and poor”: Prime Minister promises strict action against those responsible | News from Mumbai

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday promised strict action against those responsible for the Pune accident in which a 17-year-old boy allegedly knocked over a bicycle with his Porsche, resulting in the death of two technicians.

During a visit to the upcoming second stretch of the coastal road between Worli and Marine Drive, the CM told reporters that he was in touch with the Pune police commissioner, adding that none of those involved would be spared.

“I have been saying since the first day I came into contact with the Pune Police Commissioner that there should be no discrimination irrespective of the influence of the accused. (It does not) matter whether the accused is rich or poor – the law is the same for all and no one will be spared,” Shinde said.

Two IT professionals in their 20s were killed in the May 19 accident in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar area that sparked outrage. “The victims in this case are also someone’s children. Therefore, strict action will be taken against all those involved… I have already told the police commissioner not to spare anyone, doctors or anyone else,” Shinde added.

The Chief Minister was referring to the arrest of two doctors of Sassoon Hospital – Ajay Taware and Dr. Hari Harnor – by the Pune Crime Branch for allegedly substituting the blood samples of the accused teenager with those of another person.

Festive offer

Earlier, Congress leader Nana Patole had on Tuesday alleged that the son of a lawmaker was also involved in the incident and that the lawmaker was trying to cover it up. Patole demanded a CBI probe into the case, alleging political interference.

Addressing a press conference at Tilak Bhavan, Patole said, “In Pune, the minor son of a construction worker mowed down two people after drinking in a pub. He was accompanied by the son of a member of parliament. The identity of this member of parliament must be revealed. The state Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis appointed his own lawyer to rescue the accused. Illegal drug trade and illegal pubs are a problem in the cities of Pune and Nagpur.”

“Fadnavis’ role in this case is questionable. He should resign. In Nagpur – Fadnavis’ city – two girls were run over by a car but the accused was released on bail within 10 hours. In Jalgaon, an attempt was made to rescue an accused who was crushed under a car. Dr Taware of Sassoon Hospital in Pune is alleged to have tampered with the accused’s blood samples and drug mafia boss Lalit Patil was given all the services at Sassoon before fleeing,” Patole said.

Patole also claimed that a minister and a member of parliament had recommended Dr Taware for the post of superintendent of Sassoon Hospital. “People should know who this minister and this member of parliament are. The interference of the ruling party has increased in all areas so that criminals are roaming freely. In Indapur, tehsildars were fatally attacked. Such acts cannot happen without political approval,” Patole said.
