A Virginia man faces drunken driving charges after causing a crash that killed a pedestrian on a Huntington-area sidewalk.

Fairfax County Police arrived at the scene of the accident at the intersection of North Kings Highway and Huntington Park Drive shortly after 12:30 a.m. Friday.

According to police, Michael Rambudhan, 38, of Woodbridge was driving a 2023 Acura MDX north on North Kings Highway when he lost control, struck a median and then veered onto a sidewalk, where he struck a man and then struck a tree.

Police identified the pedestrian as Lucius Gaskins, 54. Gaskins died at the scene.

Rambudhan remained at the scene where he was treated for minor injuries. Investigators believe alcohol played a role in the crash and are currently investigating whether speed also played a role.
