April 29 – May 12: Police calls in Richmond

The following police calls in Richmond are for the period April 29th to May 12th. These are the data and summaries reported by Richmond Police. Police reported 1,904 call-outs with 85 arrests and 88 vehicle accidents.

Below is an overview of key duty activities performed by RPD patrol officers during their scheduled shifts. Please note that the activities shared in these segments are intended as an overview only and do not reflect the entirety of service calls and reports performed during each shift.

  • April 29th – COMMERCIAL BURGLARY: Officers responded to the 1000 block of Macdonald Ave. because of a report of theft. The victim reported that the two suspects entered the restaurant, took items and left without paying. The suspects returned to the facility after loading the stolen items into a parked vehicle. Officers contacted the suspects upon arrival as they were leaving the facility. The suspects were arrested without incident. #4302
  • 30.04. – SHOOTING INVESTIGATION: Officers responded to the 800 block of Barrett Ave and requested a ShotSpotter activation. Officers recovered various worn out casings and several vehicles that had been hit by gunfire. Luckily no one was injured. This investigation is ongoing. #4371
  • 5/1 – Embezzlement of leased/rented vehicle – Recovery: Officers responded to a flock report of a stolen vehicle in the area. Officers determined the vehicle was occupied and conducted an inspection stop. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody without incident. #4379
  • 5/1 – STOLEN VEHICLE – RESTORATION: Officers responded to a flock report of a stolen vehicle in the area. Officers determined the vehicle was occupied and conducted an inspection stop. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody without incident. #4277
  • 5/1 – Arrest warrant: During a routine patrol, officers recognized a suspect from previous contacts and knew he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The suspect was wanted for assault with a firearm and burglary. The incident occurred on 3/3/24 in the 300 block of S. 15th St. The suspect struck the victim with a pistol. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. #2159
  • 5/2 – CARRY STOLEN, LOADED FIREARM: Officers conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation in the area of ​​Marina Way and Chanslor Ave. through. Upon contacting the driver, officers smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and discovered a clear plastic bag containing suspected marijuana in the center console. During the course of their investigation, it was discovered that the driver also did not have a driver’s license and a firearm was seized. The suspect was arrested and his vehicle was impounded. #4459
  • 5/4 – negligent discharge of a firearm: Officers responded to the 1000 block of Chesley Ave and requested a ShotSpotter activation. Officers found numerous casings at the crime scene. No victims were located and no property appeared to have been struck by gunfire. #4535
  • 5/5 – CONSIDERATE DRIVING: Officers observed in the 2300 block of Roosevelt Ave. Side activity involving multiple people attempting to take over the intersection. Several officers were on site. Two vehicles were seized and the drivers arrested. #4561
  • 5/6 – POSSESSION OF A LOADED FIREARM: Officers responded to the 400 block of Pennsylvania Ave and requested a ShotSpotter activation. During the course of the investigation, officers located an occupied vehicle in the area of ​​the ShotSpotter activation. As officers attempted to remove the suspect from the vehicle, a firearm discharged from the suspect’s waistband. The suspect was arrested and taken to a local hospital for medical evaluation before being booked. #4607
  • 5/8 – POSSESSION OF A STOLEN VEHICLE: Officers responded to the 300 block of Marina Way for a report of a suspect attempting to steal a catalytic converter. Witnesses observed the suspect carrying the catalytic converter into an apartment. Officers knocked and talked in the apartment, and when the door was opened, officers saw the catalytic converter in the living room. The suspect was arrested without incident. It was discovered that two other residents of the apartment had outstanding arrest warrants. #4007
  • 5/8 – SHOOTING INVESTIGATION: Officers responded to the 5000 block of Gately Ave for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers determined the victim was in stable condition. The suspect has been arrested and the investigation is ongoing. #4683
  • 5/8 – STOLEN VEHICLE/RECOVERY: Officers responded to a flock report of a stolen vehicle in the area. Officers determined the vehicle was occupied and conducted an inspection stop. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody without incident. #4708
  • 5/8 – Robbery: Officers responded to the 3200 block of Pierce Street for a report of a robbery. Officers learned that the victim was sitting in her parked vehicle when the suspect broke her window and stole her purse. The suspect then got into a waiting vehicle and fled before officers arrived. #4707
  • 5/9 – POSSESSION OF A STOLEN VEHICLE: Officers responded to a flock report of a stolen vehicle in the area. Officers discovered the vehicle was unoccupied and observed two suspects enter the stolen vehicle and drive away. The vehicle was disabled after officers used stop sticks and collided with a parked vehicle. The two occupants were able to escape on foot, but were eventually located using a K9 and a drone and taken into custody. #4742
  • 11.05. – Murder investigation: Officers responded to the 3100 block of Pullman Ave for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived on scene, they found three victims suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Unfortunately, one of the victims died from his injuries at the scene of the accident. RPD homicide detectives responded and took over the investigation. This investigation is ongoing. #4795
