Buffalo Sabers dream free agent signing by post

As the Stanley Cup Playoffs continue, the Buffalo Sabers are looking ahead to the offseason as they attempt to end their 13-year playoff drought. There’s no denying that Buffalo has talent, but they still can’t get over the hump and make the playoffs. As far as general manager Kevyn Adams is concerned, this offseason could make or break the general manager and he knows it.

Adams hired Lindy Ruff to be the next head coach again. Now it’s time to improve the list itself. Looking ahead to July and free agency, this is a talented class. In this article, I’m going to give five players that Buffalo should sign, but these will be my “dream signings.”

What I mean is that there will be four players; a center, a left wing, a right wing and a defenseman, who I want the Sabers to sign, but I don’t expect these players to actually sign with Buffalo.

For my dream center, it’s Steven Stamkos. This is not the first time Stamkos has been an unrestricted free agent. In 2011, he was the top target with Brad Richards. Richards ended up with the New York Rangers while Stamkos returned to Tampa Bay. Sabers fans wanted Stamkos back in 2011 and honestly, who could blame them?

Even at 34, Stamkos remains a solid player. This season, he has scored 40 goals and recorded 41 assists in 79 matches played. During his career against the Sabres, he scored 23 goals and recorded 25 assists in 52 games played against Buffalo.

I don’t think this will actually happen, but it would be awesome if the Sabers signed Steven. Adams said he wanted to land a top-six scorer this offseason and there are many who are expected to become unrestricted free agents.
