Probable pitchers and starting lineups for Atlanta Braves vs. New York Mets, May 11

Last night, the Braves started their 2024 Queens debut on a strong note with a 4-2 victory. The big bats woke up, with Acuna, Albies and Olson on each home run in the third inning. It was the first time the Braves hit three homers in an inning since June of last season.

Braves closer Raisel Iglesias also got his 200th career save in the game last night. Hopefully the bats’ big innings and continued strong starting pitching will get the Braves going. Maintaining this winning streak could well allow them to find the Philadelphia Phillies, at the top of the NL East.

Let’s take a look at the starting lineups and pitching for tonight’s game.

Max Fried (2-1, 4.23 ERA) is still the same dominant pitcher we know despite his first inning struggles this season. He is a master in the art of limiting violent contact, since he ranks among the 95th percentile in the hard-hit % and in the 98th percentile in average exit velocity via Baseball Savant. In 22 career appearances against the Mets, Fried is 8-5 with a 2.65 ERA and 108 strikeouts.

Christian Scott (0-0, 1.35 ERA) will make today only his second start in a major championship. He is currently ranked as the Mets’ fifth-best prospect. Last year, he dominated Double-A with a WHIP under 1.00 and close to 9 K/BB. He relies on a big fastball that sits in the 93-97 mph range, and pairs it with a heavy splitter that sits in the upper 80s.
