Three Volusia County officers have stepped forward to provide loving homes for dogs rescued during an animal cruelty investigation. The saga began when authorities responded to a 911 call on East Beresford Avenue. What they found was disturbing: emaciated dogs as well as deceased cats, geckos and birds were found in appalling conditions.

Law enforcement’s quick action was commendable, and Volusia County Animal Services played a critical role in ensuring the welfare of the rescued animals. Sheriff Mike Chitwood praised their efforts and highlighted the exemplary care taken during the investigation.

What really warms your heart, however, is the compassion shown by MPs. Dutch found a new beginning with Deputy Stubblefield, Ariel was embraced by Deputy Schramm for a fresh start, and Sgt. Pullin welcomed Odie into her home, according to a Facebook post from the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.

Ashley Taryn Boucher, the person responsible for the cruelty, faces several charges, including aggravated animal cruelty.
