Multiple suspects arrested in connection with fatal shooting in South Monterey County – KION546

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) – The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office confirms three people have been arrested in connection with the deadly mass shooting in King City and the Soledad double murder investigation.

Pedro Manuel Nava, Jonathan Leal Cervantes and a juvenile were each arrested on multiple murder and gang charges. All are from Greenfield.

Sheriff Tina Nieto said in Friday’s news conference that more than 80 arrest warrants had been served by multiple agencies to seek justice for the people killed in the numerous shootings that left a total of six people dead. Eleven others were injured in the King City shooting.

“Although this pain will lessen over time, it will always be there,” said King City Police Chief James Hunt. “Every person who calls King City home has felt the loss. The loss of the people who died and the loss of the feeling of security.”

On March 3, 2024, four people were killed at a birthday party in King City. Soledad’s cousins ​​were killed on February 4.

According to Sheriff Nieto, the juvenile involved in the investigation is not being identified at this time because he is a minor.

The sheriff’s office inmate log shows that Cervantes was previously booked into the Monterey County Jail on March 26 on a robbery charge.

The Monterey County District Attorney’s Office said the suspects will be arraigned in court today.
