Kogi PDP Transitional Committee suspends ad hoc district congress indefinitely

The Caretaker Committee (CTC) of the Kogi State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Senator Danjuma Laah and the Chairman, Congress Committee have postponed the district congress in the state scheduled for Saturday, July 27, 2024.

A statement signed by the interim committee’s spokesman, Chief Dayo Akande, said the indefinite suspension of the action came after a group of unknown persons stole confidential election materials for the district congress under the eyes of the INEC observers present.

“The decision to suspend the District Congress became necessary when hoodlums and unknown thugs invaded the State Secretariat and stole sensitive election materials. This action was done in collaboration with the Chairman, Congress Committee, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Boyelayefa Debeleme.

“The impostors came in an 18-seater bus and other vehicles without any means of identification. All this was done in the presence of the INEC observer. These unauthorised persons disappeared with all the confidential materials meant for the Congress in the 239 wards of the 21 LGAs of the state.

“The CTC condemns this act in the strongest possible terms. We call on INEC and other institutions to ignore all alleged results of this illegal measure,” the statement said.
