Troy police find handgun during dispute investigation

TROY, NY (NEWS10)– Troy police say they found a loaded handgun after being called to a dispute Friday afternoon. Police say they found the weapon in the backyard of a residence near 4th Street, and one of the three men involved in the dispute is in custody.

Police said the argument occurred at about 2:50 p.m. at a home on 4th Street between Ida and Jefferson streets, where two men were arguing with another man, one of whom had a gun. Two of the men fled the scene before police arrived, and the other man was arrested for illegal driving, police said.

Deputy Police Chief Steven Barker said the investigation is ongoing and the department wants to learn more about the cause of the dispute and the identities of the people who fled the scene. Stay tuned to NEWS10 for more information.
