An officer was killed by a gunshot in Raleigh, police said News

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — One person was shot by an officer during a domestic violence incident in Raleigh Friday morning, police said.

Memphis Police Department (MPD) confirmed that officers responded to the call in the 3000 block of Dumbarton Road just after 3 a.m. and found a wounded man inside the home.

Someone armed with a gun charged at officers before one of the officers opened fire, hitting the suspect, MPD said.

Both the suspect and the injured man were taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said. The suspect later died.

MPD did not release the suspect’s gender.

Police said the man’s condition had improved and was stable.

An officer suffered minor injuries at the scene, but police said it was unrelated to the altercation inside the home. MPD did not elaborate.
