Daryl Dixon is renewed for season 3 with a surprising twist

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon has been renewed for a third season, but with one small difference.

The most obvious of the various TWD spin-offs is the move of filming from France to Spain. At San Diego Comic-Con, it was announced that filming will begin next month in Madrid, with additional filming taking place in the regions of Galicia, Aragon, Catalonia and Valencia (via TVLine).

It is not known if the third season will have a second subtitle, after season 2 was called “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol.”

The series was originally supposed to be called “Daryl & Carol” and focus on both characters, but things were revamped when Melissa McBride, who plays Carol, was unavailable. She showed up at the end of the first season and is a series regular in the second season.

Again, we don’t know if Carol will co-star in season 3. Since season 2 hasn’t even premiered yet, it might be a while before we find out.

Talking about Carol’s return, showrunner David Zabel explained what her character is all about.

“She felt compelled to go and find Daryl. We’ll learn more about that as we delve deeper into the story,” he said.

“It was assumed he was going to come home, but then he never came home again, so that’s what we can conclude.

“So now she’s worried about him, and the radio call (in episode five) gave her a little clue as to how she might be able to track him down. And there’s another clue – that moment in the radio call where she talks about something or someone coming back.”

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol Premiering this September on AMC in the US and Sky Max/NOW in the UK.
