Woman killed after argument leads to shooting in Meriden: PD

Officials said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene and everyone involved knew each other.

MERIDEN, Connecticut — A woman is dead after a fight turned into a shooting in Meriden, police said.

Meriden police were called to the area between State and Mill Streets near Meriden Green shortly after 10 p.m. Monday. When they arrived at the scene, they found a woman shot. Emergency responders rendered aid to her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

During the initial investigation, officers learned that all of the people involved in the fight, including the woman who was shot, knew each other. Police said they had no reason to believe there was a threat or danger to the public.

Police are asking residents to avoid the State Street area and the entire Meriden Green area while the investigation is ongoing.

At this time, the woman has not been identified and police have not named any suspects. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Detective John Wagner at 203-630-6334.
