Tragic turn of events: 97-year-old golf club becomes scene of a fatal accident

There have been many tragic incidents on golf courses. What was supposed to be a normal day out turned out to be the worst nightmare for the people of Ayrshire. While everyone was enjoying the 2024 Open just a few miles away at Royal Troon, a woman lost her life in a tragic incident near the Loudoun Golf Club. The golf club is 97 years old and was founded in 1927.

An accident can happen at any time and is tragic every time. A 72-year-old woman died in a brutal three-vehicle crash. According to STV News, the accident happened at 5.25pm ​​on Saturday 20 July on the A71 near Galston when a blue Volkswagen Golf driven by the woman collided with a white Vauxhall Corsa and a green Land Rover Discovery.

Unfortunately, despite all efforts, the emergency services were unable to save her and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. But that was not the only heartbreaking incident that day. The driver of the Corsa, a 37-year-old man, was also taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow and is in a serious but stable condition. Everyone is praying for his speedy recovery. There is no news yet about the driver of the Rover. As a precautionary measure, no vehicles were allowed on the road until 1:30 a.m.

“Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased woman,” said Sergeant Andrew Coutts, who is currently leading the investigation. He also called on witnesses to come forward, saying: “We are asking anyone who may have seen what happened to come forward. If you have dashboard camera footage that could assist with our investigation, please contact officers.” Unfortunately, this is not the only time in recent months that a gruesome incident has occurred on a golf course.

A 69-year-old Crestwood resident, John Mills, tragically lost his life when he was struck by a shuttle bus around 5 a.m. He was attempting to cross Shelbyville Road near the Valhalla Golf Club when the horrific event occurred.
