APPLETON – A fundraiser is being organized to support an Appleton teenager who was seriously injured in a bizarre pressure washer accident earlier this month.

Brett Jedwabny, a member of the Appleton North High School fishing team, is currently at Children’s Wisconsin Hospital in Milwaukee.

His parents, Tyler and Nicole, grew up in Kaukauna, and a GoFundMe page shared on social media and posted on the Kaukauna Community Group has already exceeded its goal of $40,000 to support the family during the crisis.

Brett was using a pressure washer to clean a cart on July 9 when the pressure washer struck one of the cart’s tires, which shattered and sent debris flying, hitting him in the eye and skull.

In updates on the couple’s Facebook page, Tyler and Nicole ask the community to pray for Brett.

“A Cast For Hope” will take place on August 3 and 4, 2024. Anglers will compete for the largest fish of the following species: northern pike, walleye, bass, bluegill, crappie, perch.

The winner of each type will receive a plaque donated by Appleton Trophy & Engraving.

The tournament is open to the public of all ages on all public waters in Wisconsin via the Fishdonkey app.

Registration: To register for the tournament, download the free Fishdonkey app, search for “Cast for Hope Tournament” and enter. All fish must be registered with a bump board.

Entrance fee: $25 entry fee per angler of any age participating in the tournament.
