How to fight corruption – Hilda Dokubo suspended by LP – The Sun Nigeria

Former Nollywood veteran and current politician Hilda Dokuba described reports of her suspension from the Labour Party as evidence of the fight against corruption.

Daily Sun reported that the actress exposed from the party for alleged financial misconduct, abuse of office and violations of party rules.

However, in a video posted on social media, Hilda Dokubo clarified that she had never been suspended because the people named in the post were not members of the Labour Party.

In her view, refusing to accept bribes leads to threats and the recent development is an opportunity for those involved to harm her.

“I was never suspended. All of those in this publication are not members of the Labor Party because the Labor Party has a register and we know all of our members, especially in Asarito Torí, a small community. So these are all PDP boys who carry out the orders of their master.

So the question would be why? I have worked in Nollywood for over 30 years without blemish or scandal. I have worked for international organisations for 10 years. Not one day was there any mention of me taking anything. Because in my work, integrity and honour are paramount. These are the things they look at before giving you a job.

“When you say you’re going into politics, you’re entering murky waters. This is corruption that strikes back. That’s why I’m doing this show, which may just be one of several to come. So let me get ahead of you.

“My dears, we have work to do. We are doing membership renewal, registering members, and strengthening our communities. Stay focused and don’t get distracted. If people are trying to bribe you and you don’t get bribed, they are threatening you and you don’t get threatened. They will certainly look for a way to hurt you.

“I was never suspended. I had no time to deal with money. We have no money. I am the leader of the Labour Party in Rivers State, not the financial secretary or treasurer, I am not even an executive of District 3. I think they have missed the point. So we are going back to work,” she said.
