Number encryption not suspended on Monday

MANILA, Philippines — The number coding system will still be implemented on Monday, July 22, when President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. delivers his third State of the Nation Address (Sona), the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said on Saturday.

“The number coding scheme may have been lifted, Hindi Po. “They used the number coding scheme because it cannot make them slow down traffic,” he said MMDA Acting Chairman Romando Artes said in an ambush interview.

The number coding system will not be lifted on Monday. It will remain in place anyway because if we lift it, the amount of vehicles on the roads will contribute to traffic congestion.)

“Any additional vehicles can cause traffic jams,” he added.

(Every additional vehicle increases the traffic jam.)

The MMDA’s traffic plan for Sona 2024 will close parts of Commonwealth Avenue and IBP Road to traffic.

Artes also reminded the public that those who have non-urgent travel, especially in the Batasan area of Quezon City, should stay home and watch Marcos’ “Sona.”
