Woman whose husband died in motorcycle accident asks drivers to be careful

DEAR ANNIE: Lost, empty and heartbroken – that’s how I feel and I really don’t know what to do next.

My husband and I had just retired. It was time for us to relax and enjoy life. My husband worked hard his whole life to support his family and provide a good life for all of us. He was a great man. Two days into our RV trip, my husband went on a motorcycle ride; within an hour he was hit from behind so hard he didn’t stand a chance.

Please, please tell people to watch the road. My husband was the glue of this family. We are falling apart. My husband lost his life. I lost my husband.

I had to sell my RV and I have nothing left. My whole life is upside down. We had plans and they are all gone. I miss him so much. We were married for 48 years.

The only thing I have now is $250,000 in medical bills for less than 12 hours in the hospital. Every day I see people driving around talking on their phones and not paying attention to the road. In one second an accident can destroy a person’s family. I miss his smile. He was always smiling. – Miss his smile

DEAR MISS HIS SMILE: I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for your letter. I hope it serves as a reminder to people to pay attention while driving and especially not to text while driving. I encourage you to seek out a grief counseling group to help you process and cope with your loss.
