Motorcyclist found dead after accident in Bent County

(BENT COUNTY, Colorado) – On Sunday, July 14, a motorcyclist was found dead at the scene of an accident in Bent County.

According to the Bent County Sheriff’s Office, officers received a report of a motorcycle crash on westbound Highway 50 just outside the Las Animas city limits on Sunday. First responders from the Las Animas Fire Department and Bent County EMS also responded to the scene.

When officers arrived, they found the motorcyclist on site, who was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) and the Bent County Coroner were notified of the accident and the westbound lanes of Highway 50 were closed while the CSP’s Vehicular Crimes Unit investigated and reconstructed the accident scene.

“The Bent County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the driver involved,” it said in a Facebook post.

The identity of the motorcyclist is currently not disclosed.
