74 people arrested in violent clashes outside a football stadium

Following violent clashes outside the Panathinaikos football stadium in central Athens on Saturday, 74 people were arrested, including five minors.

The incident occurred early Saturday afternoon and left three people injured: a 38-year-old was shot in the left leg, a 22-year-old suffered abdominal injuries from a sharp object and a 25-year-old was beaten. The two people injured by the shots and the sharp object were taken to hospital.

The exact circumstances of the altercation are still unclear, but it appears to have been a dispute between Panathinaikos supporters. The incident occurred shortly before a friendly match between Panathinaikos and the Cypriot team AEK Larnaca.
