Search continues for body of gang rape victim in canal in Andhra Pradesh

Nandyal: Andhra Pradesh police are searching for the body of the nine-year-old girl who was allegedly raped by three minor boys and pushed into a canal here, an official said on Saturday.

On the evening of July 7, the three boys allegedly raped the girl, who was last seen playing in a park, and then pushed her into the Mucchumarri Lift Irrigation canal in Nandyal district.

“We have not found the girl’s body yet. We are still searching. A team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and a State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are also searching,” the official said. PTI.

According to police, up to 70 NDRF and SDRF personnel are searching for the girl’s body.

A senior official noted that the three minor boys had “confessed” to raping the girl, but stressed that it was important to find the body and prove the crime scientifically.

“They have confessed and we have the confession too. If the body is found, the prosecution can easily get a conviction. This is a big deal,” the official said.

In addition to the NDRF and SDRF teams, five police investigation teams were also deployed to investigate the case.

In addition, the police access technical data to check whether other people are involved in the crime.

Two of the accused minors are 15 years old, the other is 12 years old. They all come from the same village in Mucchumarri and knew each other, police said.
