Police arrest man after attack by emergency workers on Victoria Street

A massive police operation that resulted in one arrest and fueled online rumors of a shooting resulted in an arrest on Pandora Avenue on Thursday evening (July 11).

Shortly before 8pm, Victoria Police were called to the fire in Victoria and paramedics reported an assault.

Officers responded and arrested a suspect.

The situation requires a comprehensive response from the police departments of Victoria, Saanich, Oak Bay and West Shore, VicPD said in a social media update.

The large visible reaction sparked considerable online discussion and prompted a response from VicPD on X (formerly Twitter).

“To our knowledge, there are rumors that the response to Pandora tonight was due to a shooting; that is not the case,” VicPD said.

Police did not say whether anyone was injured in the incident.

Officials reported that the incident ended at 9:45 p.m.
