A suspect has been arrested for the murder of Bruce Glass on May 5, 2024 in the Lloyd District.

On Tuesday, May 7, 2024, Portland Police Bureau officers arrested David L. Carter, 54, of Portland, on drug and weapons charges. Investigators determined that Carter was involved in the Glass murder several days earlier. On Wednesday, May 8, 2024, Carter was charged with second-degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm. Carter is currently housed in the Multnomah County Detention Center.

Glass’s family announced the arrest.

The victim in the Lloyd Neighborhood shooting has been identified as Bruce O. Glass, 45, of Portland. His family was informed of his death. They ask for privacy at this time, but have made the attached photo available for public release.

The coroner determined that Glass died as a result of a homicide from a gunshot wound.

On Sunday, May 5, 2024, at approximately 4:10 a.m., North District officers responded to the 300 block of NE Weidler Street for a report of a shooting.

Officers arrived on scene and located a deceased adult male. No suspect or suspects were immediately located.

Detectives from the Portland Police Homicide Unit and criminal investigators from the Forensic Evidence Division responded and began an investigation. There will be a large police presence here for several hours.
