Stabbing leads to hospitalization and charges in Franklin County

Two people were hospitalized after a stabbing incident at a Franklin County home, where one of them was also charged, court records show. The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Christina Schultz, 42, of Fayetteville, is charged with strangulation and aggravated assault. The charges were filed after she reportedly stabbed a man who asked her to leave the house. Police responded to a 911 call from a home in the 4000 block of Washington Meadows Lane.

The victim suffered a stab wound to the abdomen, which fortunately did not cause any organ damage or internal bleeding. Schultz suffered a cut to her hand. At the crime scene, police found her sitting in front of the house with a bandaged hand.

The argument escalated when Schultz allegedly strangled the man while he was sitting on a couch. She claimed it was self-defense and that the man initially attacked her with a knife as she was looking for money. However, police found inconsistencies in her statement, noting that no blood was visible in the alleged area of the initial altercation.

Further investigation revealed blood throughout the kitchen and a broken table, consistent with the man’s statement that he had been stabbed there, which led to his collapse and the table breaking. He stated that he felt threatened and feared for his life.

The knife was found at the bottom of the front steps of the home. Schultz is in custody with bail set at $100,000 pending a preliminary hearing on July 16.
