2 boys unharmed, mother found dead, Charleston County officials say

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) – The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office issued an update on two brothers who are missing after their mother was found dead Friday afternoon.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office conducted a welfare check in the 9900 block of Highway 78 shortly before 4 p.m., sheriff’s spokesman Alexis Douglas said. During that welfare check, requested by the New Jersey State Police, officers found a dead woman at the scene.

Investigators found that she had two boys with her, but they were not present at the crime scene, Douglas said.

Shortly after 7 p.m., officials issued a request for information. Shortly after 7:30 p.m., Douglas provided an update saying the brothers had been located and were safe with family in New Jersey.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the victim’s name.
