Huthi member rapes 9-year-old girl in Yemen’s Sanaa

A Houthi member has committed the crime of raping a nine-year-old girl south of the Yemeni province of Sanaa.

The victim’s father, Taher Abdulwahid Al-Syaghi, said on Thursday in a video circulating on social media that his daughter Jannat was raped a few days ago in the Sanhan directorate by a member of the Houthi militia named Ahmed Hussein Nejad (29).

The perpetrator forcibly took the girl out of her house, pinched her mouth and then raped her. Nejad admitted to committing the crime. The father said.

Al-Syaghi added that the Houthi leaders put strong pressure on him to marry the girl to the perpetrator. He explained that the case had been referred to the public prosecutor’s office but was being manipulated due to pressure from the Houthi leaders.

Al-Syaghi stressed his rejection of all attempts to downplay the problem and called on all Yemenis to show solidarity with him in demanding justice for his daughter from the perpetrator and demanding that he be punished for his crime.

Recently, there has been a significant increase in cases of child rape in the areas controlled by the Houthis. Most of these crimes are committed by leaders and members of the militia. These serious and systematic crimes against children by the Iran-backed group amount to war crimes.
