New details emerge about Nelly Korda’s dog bite incident

World number one Nelly Korda was bitten by an unknown dog in front of a cafe in Seattle.

At least that’s the version of events told by LPGA Tour pro Alison Lee.

Lee told reporters that Korda had asked her for advice after she, too, was bitten by her boyfriend’s rescue dog, Bear, years ago.

Korda was scheduled to compete in the Aramco Team Series event in London this week, but was forced to withdraw on June 28.

In a statement on Instagram, Korda wrote: “I regret to announce that I have to cancel my participation in the Ladies European Tour tournament in London next week.

“I was bitten by a dog in Seattle on Saturday and need time to receive treatment and fully recover.”

In Lee’s case, she was bitten on her left hand and had to spend three days in the hospital.

At the time, she said her entire arm turned red and she was diagnosed with lymphangitis.

“She asked me a lot about the symptoms I had when I was bitten by my dog,” Lee, 29, told reporters.

“The dog bite became so infected that I actually had to stay in hospital for three days.

“But yes, it is an unfortunate circumstance and definitely scary.

“She was bitten by a dog she didn’t know, in a random cafe. I hope she makes a speedy recovery.”

Korda’s dog bite incident occurred a few days after she missed the cut at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in Washington.

She was close to tears when she missed her third straight cut after previously winning a remarkable six LPGA Tour events.

Last year, Korda triumphed at the Aramco Team Series in London, four strokes ahead of Englishman Charley Hull.

Hull withdrew from the tournament yesterday after playing only six holes.

She later said she had been told to stop playing on medical advice after suffering a “bad fall” earlier in the week.

Korda has not yet revealed when she will be in action next.
