Teenager arrested with weapon in Poughkeepsie

On June 27, 2024, the New York State Police Community Stabilization Unit and the City of Poughkeepsie Neighborhood Recovery Unit arrested a seventeen-year-old for criminal possession of a weapon (a Class C felony), criminal possession of a weapon (a Class E felony), and unlawful possession of certain ammunition feeding devices (a Class B misdemeanor).

At approximately 7:50 p.m., a 2020 Mazda CX3 was stopped for traffic violations on North Hamilton Street in the city of Poughkeepsie. The investigation revealed that the seventeen-year-old passenger was in illegal possession of a Glock Model 43 pistol.

The seventeen-year-old was arraigned in Poughkeepsie City Court and remanded to the custody of a juvenile detention center.
