Young girl seriously injured after car accident on River Road

A young girl was taken to the hospital Tuesday night after being struck by a car in the Sayler Park neighborhood. It happened around 5:30 p.m. on River Road, near Bender Road. Police said the driver was traveling in the eastbound lane. Police said the young girl entered the road from the south side near a wooded area before being struck by the car. Emergency crews responded and took the child to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for treatment of her injuries. Police said the child suffered serious injuries. River Road remained closed while the incident was investigated. Police said the driver did not suffer any injuries and is cooperating with the investigation. Police said the child is approximately six to eight years old. Investigators said the girl’s mother was on the scene when police arrived, but it is unclear if she was there before the crash.
