Daily heat and storms as the tropics warm – 104.5 WOKV

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – First Alert meteorologist Corey Simma tracks heat and storms.

The metro has already experienced heavy downpours due to heavy rains and storms.

As of 3 p.m., rain and thunderstorms will be concentrated near the St. Johns River south of Jacksonville. Some thunderstorms will linger into this evening, mainly west of Jacksonville.

Sunday’s sea breeze will drive rain and storms farther inland than today. Daily storms will continue into next week, including on July 4.

Temperatures will rise above average at the end of next week.

In the tropics, beryl rapidly gains strength in the central/western Atlantic.

Beryl is forecast to become a major hurricane before reaching the Caribbean, severely affecting the Lesser Antilles.

Behind Beryl there is another wave that is also forecast to strengthen and move into the Caribbean.

Both of these Atlantic-Caribbean areas to watch are expected to stay south and away from Florida. But there is still plenty of time to work out this forecast, so stay tuned

Another disturbance is moving into the southern Gulf, but also does not reach the USA or Florida.
